The internet has made it relatively easy for artists to display their oil paintings and gives those people interested in buying an oil painting online a wide choice. I make every effort to ensure that the representations of the paintings are as accurate as possible. As well as the miniature and enlarged images of the oil paintings, I also attempt to give you the real feel of my original artwork by explaining my technique and displaying some close up detail. However, colours in real life and colours on-screen may vary. The paintings are obviously usually better in "the flesh" than they are on screen, but if for any reason you are not happy with your oil painting, and you wish to return it then I will do my best to make this a swift and trouble free process. Please inform me of your decision within seven working days from receipt. The painting must be returned undamaged and "as new." Once I have received the painting, I will immediately issue a FULL REFUND via your original payment method. You will be responsible for the return shipping costs. Please use the original packaging to return the painting.

How will my painting be packaged?

Although my oil paintings are for sale, as an artist I view each of my creations with special affection. I don't so much see myself as selling them as searching for a good home for them! Thus, I pack them very carefully to ensure that they will not be damaged in transit. Call me a pessimist, but I imagine someone actually standing on the painting and this has been the acid test for my packaging. Thus, I personally make a solid plywood case for each painting which passes the 'being stood upon' test. Although this increases the weight for shipping, I think it is preferable that I can ensure that the painting arrives with you safely. Although I have planned for the eventuality that a painting may be damaged in transit, this has never happened and is, in fact, very unlikely . What are the arrangements for and costs of shipping?

I use the French international postage service, Colissimo International, to ship my paintings. The French postal service is one of the best in the world and Colissimo International is a rapid priority service that normally ensures delivery between 4 and 8 working days (not counting Sundays or national holidays) after the day that the package is deposited at the local post office. Although, in some cases, delays in the destination country can extend this up to 28 days. I receive a "proof of posting" notice on which is noted a number that allows the package to be traced online during its transit. To certain destinations this tracking extends to each stage of the journey in both countries. To others the package is tracked fully until it leaves France and then only partially in the country of destination. I will notify you of the tracking number, and its scope, on the day that the painting is posted so that we will be able to check on the progress of your package.

A signature will be required to receive the painting. If there is no one available to receive the painting then a note will be left in your post box informing you of the address of the post office from where the package may be collected. In order to collect the package you will be asked to produce proof of identity or you can designate someone to pick up the package for you. The post office will keep the package for 15 days (not counting the day that delivery was attempted) after which, if not collected, it will be returned to me.

I take out insurance to cover the value of the painting should it be damaged or lost in transit. If you require extremely rapid delivery (between 1 - 4 days according to destination) then this can be arranged through the express delivery service, Chronopost, at extra cost.

Should you wish to buy an oil painting please contact me by e-mail. A contact link can be found on all pages at the top and bottom of the page and on each page displaying the enlarged images of the paintings.  I will need the following information in order to check on shipping costs

  • the name of the oil painting
  • the country where the oil painting is to be delivered

If you require rapid delivery I will need a postcode in order to obtain a price.

I will then e-mail you with the packaging costs (charged at cost between 10-30 euros) and postage costs. If you wish to go ahead then I will then send a money request via Paypal. I will also request a delivery address at this point.

What should I do if my painting is damaged in transit?

I use reputable companies for all my deliveries and pack each painting myself to minimise the risk of damage during transit. However, occasionally, the worst can happen. If your painting is damaged in transit I request that you report this to me within 7 days. On return of the painting, I will issue a full refund via your original payment method. If the outer packaging is visibly damaged on receipt and you believe that the painting inside will be damaged, please do not accept the delivery and ask the courier company to return it to me. Once I receive the damaged oil painting, I will issue a full refund to you via your original payment method.

How do I pay for my oil painting?

To simplify buying an oil painting online, you may pay via Paypal. This is an easy to use payment system that lets you pay securely online using a credit card, bank account or PayPal balance. Using this method, you do not need to give your credit card or bank details to me. In addition, YOU DO NOT NEED A PAYPAL ACCOUNT.  Once you decide to go ahead with your purchase I will send you a money request via Paypal which will guide you step by step through the payment process. A currency converter link is available on each page displaying the enlarged images of my paintings so that you can check the price in your currency.

How do I commission a painting?

In addition to the oil paintings for sale on this site I am also available to undertake commissions. By clicking original artwork you will find a full explanation of my methods for undertaking commissions.

The painting opposite is an example of a commissioned painting - the village of Pépieux in the Minervois region of Languedoc.
