Oil Painting, Languedoc - Roquebrun en Ocre

Oil on Canvas/Huile sur Toile
40cm x 80cm

625€

Roquebrun faces south which means that the light is always good, and as the sun moves west the mood and tones change. The traditional stone houses, some rendered with lime and some not, with their roman terracotta tilled roofs, glow in a range of ochres - from yellow through to gold and reddish-brown. It is this dreaming, glowing quality that I have aspired to capture in this painting. I have simplified the forms to keep it restful in this view from the road out to the east which offers my favourite elevated position.
